Light a Vigil Candle

We consider it an honor to light a vigil candle for you and pray for your intentions, which will be kept in confidence.

Lighting a candle for loved ones or the personal intentions we hold within our hearts is a longstanding tradition in the Catholic Church. We invite you to join us in this faithful tradition by lighting a candle at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis.

Vigil candles burn in the Blessed Mother Chapel, All Souls Chapel and at the Shrine of the Sacred Heart. Each burning flame represents the faith of the supplicants and their fervent prayers.

To light a candle, please fill out the form below. Thank you for your generous and prayerful support.

Help Preserve a Masterpiece

The Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis stands among the grandest cathedrals in the world. Artisans, craftsmen, stonecutters, and masons spent nearly a century building this church. We owe this treasure our protection for the generations who come after us.

The Friends of the Cathedral Basilica preserve this work of art for centuries to come. Their gifts fund the Cathedral's ongoing care.

Please consider joining the Friends of the Cathedral Basilica. Your gift protects an architectural, historical, and religious treasure for the future.

Jubilee Prayer Garden at the Cathedral Basilica

The Jubilee Prayer Garden extends from the west side of the Cathedral to the east side of the parish rectory. Here, friends gather in peace and take in the beauty of God's work. The initial phase of the garden was completed during the summer of 2000. The garden is a living and changing environment, a reflection of our growing relationship with God and each other.

Paving bricks line the walkway, each inscribed with a name you choose to honor. Order a brick to mark a birth, a graduation, a marriage, or a final remembrance. The bricks are placed throughout the walkway and will be enjoyed by all those visiting the area.

Annual Catholic Appeal

The Annual Catholic Appeal unifies us as Catholics in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Each year we demonstrate we are one Church in our efforts to assist those who are suffering and abandoned. Catechetical programs introduce our young children to the love and peace of the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Our newly ordained priests join their new parishes with enthusiasm and great hope. Your support means thousands will find grace and mercy through the Annual Catholic Appeal, not because those we serve are Catholic, but because we are Catholic. Please consider a gift today.
